How fresh is this data?
In the last eight weeks the index recorded 207 quant vacancies opening and 207 closing. The most recent full week saw 14 open and 21 close, a net move of -7. Vacancies are re-checked against employer career pages daily; the last successful refresh was 31 October 2026.
Weekly movement
Counted from the vacancy table, not written by hand. Opened means first seen on an employer career page in that week; closed means the advert was withdrawn.

Method and coverage revisions
Appended, never rewritten. If a figure you quoted has changed, this is where it is recorded.

Answer library and head-to-head comparisons published
A permanent library of direct answers went live at /answers, alongside city-versus-city and role-versus-role comparison pages. Every answer is generated from the same tables the benchmark pages render, so the prose cannot drift from the figures.

Q3 2026 compensation benchmark frozen
The quarterly edition was published at a permanent address and will not be edited in place. Cite the edition rather than the live page when a figure needs to stay stable.

Method 2026.1 adopted
Role classification was rebuilt so engineering and data roles at quant employers are tracked separately and never counted as quant vacancies. Location resolution now falls back to the employer's stated office rather than inferring a city from the advert text.

Dubai added as a hub market
Dubai entered the index as the tenth hub market, with pay bands indexed against the New York reference and a right-to-work note covering the free-zone route.

Portfolio manager band widened
The portfolio-manager band was widened at the upper end to reflect profit-share arrangements rather than salaried packages, and labelled explicitly so it is not read as an offer range.

Methodology
Figures are expressed as annual total compensation (base salary plus expected performance bonus) in the reference market's local currency, converted from a US dollar base. They describe typical market ranges rather than any individual offer, and exclude sign-on payments, deferred equity and carried interest. Portfolio-manager figures reflect formulaic profit-share arrangements and are therefore far more dispersed than any other role.
KnowQuantIndex 2026.1 · Updated September 2026
Modelled bands describe the market, not an individual offer. Where an employer states pay, the stated figure is used and labelled as such.
