Measured, derived and modelled
Some figures are counted directly from live vacancies we have collected and verified. Some are derived from those figures, for example a median from a small sample. Some are modelled, using role, seniority, city and strategy benchmarks where no employer figure exists. Every page labels which applies, and modelled pay ranges are always shown as indicative.
Confidence and sample size
Where we show a benchmark we show the sample size behind it and a confidence label. A small sample means a wide real world spread. Treat a low confidence figure as a direction of travel, not a target.
Employer stated pay wins
Where an employer states a range, we publish that range and label it as employer stated. Where they do not, we publish a labelled indicative band for the role, seniority and city, in the currency of that market. We never invent a figure and we never publish a listing with no location.
What these figures are not
They are not an offer, a guarantee, a valuation of an individual, a benchmark for a legal or contractual purpose, or financial advice. Total compensation in this market is driven heavily by discretionary bonus, carry and deferral structures that are rarely disclosed.
Third party information
Employer descriptions, firm profiles and strategy summaries draw on public sources. We correct errors quickly. If something about your firm is wrong, email hello@know-quant.com and we will review it within five working days.
Timeliness
Vacancy data refreshes every six hours and each page shows when it was last confirmed. Benchmarks are recalculated on a slower cycle, stated on the methodology page.
